Are you starting an online job search for the first time? Do you have basic computer skills but feel unsure about how to use job boards and employer websites to complete an online job application? We’ve got you! Join us on-site in the Career Resource Center for a hands-on workshop to learn the ins and outs of an online job search. We’ll give you an orientation to the MassHire Downtown Boston website, including the “Who’s Hiring” page. We will also show you how to navigate various online job boards, create profiles on employer websites, and upload/download resumes to create formats suitable for online job applications.
After this session, you will be able to:
- Navigate the MassHire Downtown Boston website to find resources to assist in your job search.
- Search various online job boards to find jobs that match your skills and interests.
- Find job postings on employer websites and feel comfortable applying directly to companies who are hiring, creating an application profile when necessary.
- Understand the difference between .pdf, .doc, and .docx document types (for resumes) and use the proper format to apply for jobs online.
- Upload your resume to an employer website to complete an online job application.
To get the most out of this class, you should know how to use a computer mouse and keyboard, and how to find your way around the internet.
